Certificates and diplomas
QUT offers Study Abroad students the opportunity to receive an official QUT award upon completion of their Study Abroad program.
The QUT Study Abroad Certificate is awarded to students who complete one semester of an approved study program. To be eligible, students must successfully complete 48 credit points with a minimum grade of 4 in each unit.
The QUT Study Abroad Diploma will be awarded to students who complete two semesters of an approved study program. To be eligible, students must successfully complete 96 credit points (48 credit points per semester) with a maximum of one grade of 3.
Please Note: QUT operates on a 7-point grading scale with 7 the highest and 1 the lowest. A grade of 3 is a conceded pass.
Study load
Immigration regulations require international students to be enrolled on a full-time basis and students must therefore undertake a minimum of 36 credit points per semester. Most QUT subjects are offered in 12 credit point units and most students enrol in four subjects as a standard workload. When applying to QUT, we strongly recommend that you nominate at least eight subjects (in order of preference) in case you don't meet any subject prerequisites.
Credit transfer
It is the student's responsibility to ensure that their proposed Study Abroad program is approved by their home institution's academic adviser to ensure smooth credit transfer. On completion of the semester or year at QUT, each student will be provided with an official transcript. This transcript will be sent to either the student's home address or their home institution approximately one month after final results are released.
